The damping factor and the friction torque are important parameters of a DC motor for understanding and modelling its characteristic and dynamic behaviors. Here, we have explained a simple experimental approach that can be used to determine the damping factor and friction torques of DC motors - especially when these parameters are not given in manufacturer datasheets.
